It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...

We've done several things lately to get in the holiday spirit! We went to Garvan Gardens in Hot Springs on Saturday to see their huge display of lights. The bad news is that you were in THE WORST mood and cried most of the time, so we don't have a lot of pictures of you!

Here's one quick one of you inside one of the displays. You were finally okay until you realized that the cookies were fake.

Once we got to the very end and you got cocoa, you were fine. Oh well, there's always next year! You did get to enjoy the train display.

The next day we went to our neighborhood Christmas party and you were in a better mood and had a great time. Here you are being read to by one of the elves.

It was so cute - I explained to you that we were bringing Santa a gift to give to a little girl or boy in need, so you marched right up to Santa to give him the gift. However, you thought you were supposed to give everything to Santa after that! You have him all of the crafts you made and even gave him back the candy came he gave you. Here you are admiring all of the toys for Santa's sleigh.

We've been having fun at home baking cookies and preparing for Christmas! I'm so blessed to be able to have this special time at home with you!

First Pony

Your hair is finally long enough to put in a pony tail! It looks so super cute and I think you like it / being off your neck and cooler.

This has been a busy month and I haven't written, but I've been busy chasing after you girls! I love my precious time with you!

I love being a family of four and all of the special moments we share.

From holidays to every day.

From vacations to staycations, you make my life fun.

And I love all of your firsts, like your first merry-go-round ride.

I also love showing you how to do things and spending time with you.

You make my life special! I love you!!

You had a BLAST this Halloween and it was my favorite to date!  You were Minne and LOVED your costume!  After you put it on, we let you look at yourself in the mirror and you chanted "Minnie, Minnie!" over and over again and ran around with such delight!  It made my heart swell!

We went to a neighborhood Halloween carnival and then went to the church one. You had a lot of fun playing games and loved the bounce house and LOVED doing the cake walk (my favorite too).

On Halloween night, Daddy took you trick-or-treating.  This is a moment that I've dreamed of all my life and it made me tear up a bit to watch you two go.  You went to about 10 houses and then got a bit tired and the spooky noises were scary too, so Daddy took you home to sister and I who were passing out candy.  I'm so in love with you!

Kenzie's Visit

Your cousin McKenzie and her parents came for a visit and you had so much fun! She is easily your best friend which is so sweet. We went to a pumpkin patch which was a lot of fun. You and Kenzie loved holding hands.

We were joined by your other cousins too.

And of course, went on a hayride.

Then, we went to Uncle Bill and Aunt Janna's for Russell, Logan's and Daddy's birthday party plus fish fry. You were so worn out by the end of the day.

You and Kenzie loved playing with each other and were so cute together when playing dress up.

We will see them again soon! You miss her and have said "Kenzie Bye Bye". It's so sweet that you love your cousin so much!

So, you have nicknamed your sister "Happy". It comes from al of the comments I've made "That baby happy" or "That baby not happy" when she cries. It is just so cute the way you say it! You love her, but don't like getting too close to her for pictures - especially staged ones. And, I haven't been able to get you to try to hold her yet. You are starting to grow up, but still in some ways still my little baby (as you will always be).

First Cookies!

We made cookies together for the first time today. This is something I've always dreamed of doing with a daughter! We were going to make sugar cutouts, but I waited too late and so we made chocolate chip instead. You pulled up a chair to sit in so that you could watch me add the ingredients. Then, you tasted the dough several times! Then, I let you help me spoon them on the cookie sheet and then you watched them cook through the oven door. After they had cooled, I let you try one and (of course) my little Cookie Monster loved them! You are such a good helper! I am blessed!

Word World

You are saying so many words now, that I don't even bother counting anymore (praise God)! You are still in speech therapy 3 times a week and still need it for now, but you are seriously catching up! Here's a few funny and impressive things that you can say:

* You love to say "go" and love to pull on my hand and take me to what you want. It's usually the pantry where you go "knock, knock, knocking". You knock and say knock several times wanting in to get a snack.

* You have been saying "that baby happy" about your sister. It's too cute. I think "happy" is your new favorite word.

* You can say your colors and identify them. You are learning your letters and numbers too and shapes. We are really working on this hard at home. You have most animal sounds mastered and can identify most animals.

* You love to say "scat cat" when Sam is on our way which is at least once a day.

You are my favorite two year old in the world! You love drinking smoothies, stickers, playing with your little people toys, eating Popsicles on the swing, blowing bubbles on the back deck, eating cookies and cake and ice cream, dogs, Minnie Mouse, saying colors and letters, wearing jewelry, saying "no", saying "Momma", running at full speed, tormenting - I mean playing with our cat Sam, balloons, twirling in circles, reading books, playing games on my iPhone, watching Blues Clues and Dora, to "go" and you LOVE to laugh. I love all of these things about you plus so much more! I just can't get enough of you and miss you after I put you to bed at night and can't wait for you to wake up in the morning. You are my world and my happiness!! I love you to the moon (and back)!

Fall Fun

With slightly cooler temperatures over the weekend, we decided to do a few fall things as a family. First stop, to pick out our pumpkins! Daddy let you pick out your very own pumpkin! You had so much fun finding one. You were telling us they were "orange" and couldn't quite say "pumpkin" yet.

Here's you and Daddy with your pumpkin!

Aren't you precious?! Here's you "cheese"ing.

The next day, we went to a pumpkin patch in Bryant. You loved the petting zoo. They had miniature horses, bunnies, goats, sheep, name it!

And, of course, you LOVED the dog named Molly.

Next, we took a hay ride which was really fun. They had built a small western "town" which we took a stop at and you had fun playing there.

There was also a train ride. It was bumpy, so no pics. Here you are posing in the cutouts.

Time to pick out one more pumpkin at the patch! You were more interested in the bounce house. You played there for 30 minutes.

My only picture of the two of you! You move quick!

After dinner, we came home and I told you to kiss your sister and you gave her a cheek. Ha! You are my funny girl!

Just wanted to let you know what a GOOD big sister you are! I know Ava is too small to play with, but you enjoy being next to her during her playtime. You have been so patient and sweet to her and Momma both. I can't tell you just how proud I am of you! I think you and Ava are going to be thick as thieves someday soon!

Choo Choo!

You had your first train ride at the zoo today! You loved it when the whistle blew and looked at me every time smiling. You also leaned in for a long hug which made my heart melt.

This old train has been around a long time. Here's a picture of Momma on it when I was about 4 (with a friend).

Rain Dance

You LOVE the rain and pound at the door until I let you out to play in it. You love feeling the rain on your palms and catching raindrops on your tongue. Hang on to this's one of life's simple pleasures!

Big Sister!

Momma went into labor with your sister Ava around 3:30 p.m. August 1st.  I had been in labor several times over the past week, and my doctor tried to stop it because sissy was a week too early.  However, this time they decide to go ahead and do the section!  Daddy immediately came home and Grandma came over to take care of you and spend the night.  Momma had sissy at 8:10 p.m. and she was perfect!

We wanted you to be the very first person to meet your sister.  So, although it was WAY past your bedtime, Grandma brought you up to the hospital so that you could meet her!  You were VERY tired and confused.  The first thing you did was run to Momma at the bed and held my had and tried to get me "up".  Then, you heard sister crying and looked at her awhile.  Little sister had a special present just for you of a "Tag Junior" which you loved.  Aunt Shanna came soon after and brought you a big sister present too of a "woof woof" dog stuffed animal.

Grandma took you back home and spent the night with you while Daddy stayed one night with Momma in the hospital.  Grandma said that you were awake ALL NIGHT, which was really weird.  You always sleep.  She said you weren't making a sound, just laying in bed.  I guess you were thinking about things and working everything out.  Momma was a little sad to hear this, but was SO GLAD that you were at least not sad.  I know that this had to be confusing to you and maybe you did just need some time to think, bless your heart!  The next day, Daddy went home mid-afternoon and brought you back up.  You had your Tag Junior dog with you and immediately found the cookies.  Momma had made you and Ava matching Big Sister/Little Sister outfits which you had on.

First photo as a family of FOUR!

Every day that you came to the hospital, you immediately got up in Momma's bed and helped me eat my lunch.  The nurses brought you extra treats like chocolate pudding and popsicles too.

When it was time to go home from the hospital, we were waiting for Daddy to get the car and right before we left you said "Momma..." and then patted Ava and said "Baby" like you completely understood and were happy.  My heart instantly melted and all those months of me worrying about you and how you would accept baby sister and if you would be hurt etc. all faded away.  I was so thrilled!

All three of us in the car!  Goodbye hospital, hello home and new addition! I am SO PROUD of you and think you are going to be THE BEST big sister in the world!  I love you SO MUCH and that will never change.  You have always completely filled my heart.  My heart just grew a little bigger when Ava was born.  You are my first and will always be oh so special to me!  I hope that you will always love and be FRIENDS with Ava - she will be a lifelong friend and companion for you.  I love you Audrey my precious BIG SISTER!!!
